NOMINATIONS FOR THE 13TH ANNUAL MARGARET BRENT WOMEN LAWYERS OF ACHIEVEMENT AWARD MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE ABA COMMISSION ON WOMEN IN THE PROFESSION BY DECEMBER 13, 2002. The Commission will select award recipients in March 2003. The awards will be presented at the ABA Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA on Sunday, August 10, 2003. LAWYERS OF THE YEAR - CALIFORNIA LAWYER MAGAZINE CALL FOR NOMINATIONS. Each year California Lawyer magazine honors California attorneys whose achievements during the year have helped shape the law, the profession, or a particular industry, or have greatly benefited the general public. We are currently seeking nominations for the 2002 CLAY (California Lawyer - Attorney of the Year) Awards. If you know of any California attorneys who have scored a huge success or made a significant impact through their work this year, please send me an email noting the nominee's name, telephone number, and specific contribution. Please also note which category best describes the nominee's particular achievement or achievements: pro bono, criminal practice, civil litigation, business transactions, environmental, entertainment, government and policy, appellate, corporate/in-house, family law, employment, law practice management, intellectual property, public interest, etc. The deadline for nominations is December 1, 2002. GET APPOINTED TO THE CONFERENCE OF DELEGATES SGT. AT ARMS COMMITTEE. Sergeant at Arms are the official protocol officers and escorts to Supreme Court Justice, Attorney General, and other dignitaries addressing the Conference. They are also responsible for maintaining orderly debate on the floor and counting votes. Requires no pre-State Bar Meeting preparation, except maybe a meeting on Friday morning prior to the 2:00pm opening of the Conference of Delegates. Please contact Nedra Austin at (213) 897-2704.
